A Beginner’s Guide to Dopamine Coaching
Do you make the same mistakes as John?
John is a pretty average guy. He has a wife that he loves, a family to take care of, and a job that he is indifferent toward. John starts his day the same way each day. He slaps the snooze button a couple times, rolls out of bed for a hurried shower, and runs out the door a few minutes later than he should.
John arrives at work. He says a pleasant “good morning” to the receptionist and waves to coworkers on the way to his office. He settles into his desk chair, types in his password, and immediately pulls up his email. He reads a couple, replies to urgent emails, and then hones in on his task for the day, a spreadsheet. John begins his task for about 10 minutes, then “ding”, it’s John’s new team member asking for help. He replies to her messages and looks back at his spreadsheet. 5 minutes later, “ding”. An instagram notification, 26 people liked John’s post from last night. After 30 minutes of scrolling (cause we know that’s what happens) John looks back up at his dreaded spreadsheet. He fills in 2 cells before opening a new browser window and taps the letter “y”. Autofill is all too familiar and immediately fills in “outube.com”.
Before John knows it, it’s lunch. The morning is gone and his afternoon is already likely to suffer the same fate. If it wasn’t for an urgent request from his boss to wrap up the spreadsheet, nothing would have gotten done. John goes home, drained and exhausted. He gives his wife a kiss and plays with his kids for 30 minutes before parking in front of the TV. Now it’s 11pm, 90 minutes after John’s desired bedtime. Why does he always do this?
Get Rid of Distraction Once and for All
You like to make promises to yourself, we all do. Even John has done it before: “Today is going to be different”, “I won’t get distracted”, and “Today will be a good day”. Then 30 minutes later you are down the same path, whether it’s Youtube, Instagram, online shopping, or gambling. Pretty soon, those hopeful battle cries become a recurring prophecy.
But that doesn’t have to be the case.
What John needed is help and support. With Dopamine coaching, John would be able to complete his spreadsheet in the morning, support his team in the afternoon, and go home to his family energized. And John did just that. After receiving dopamine coaching, John was able to defeat distraction, becoming the hero of his story.

So, What is Dopamine Coaching?
Dopamine coaching is a proven blend of the science of neurochemistry and the art of coaching. When combined, they create a potent mixture for change. Dopamine coaching targets distraction dependency, a form of moderate behavioral addiction that flies under the radar. It’s what keeps you scrolling social media, playing one more round of Fortnite, or checking your email when your urgent task is right in front of you. By targeting the root of these behaviors, dopamine coaching drives out that voice that tells you “this is too hard, you should watch youtube instead”. It can then be replaced by the voice that is cheering you on toward your long-term goals.
Is it Right for me?
The first question you should ask yourself is: Are you ready to change? If so, then dopamine coaching is the right first step in that process. Coaching is a powerful tool that supports you to create meaningful change in pursuit of your best interests. What differentiates dopamine coaching from other forms of coaching is the focus on correcting brain chemistry to drive behavior change. This focus creates an awareness of your cycles and gives you the tools to break them.
Some other Questions to help decide when Dopamine Coaching is right for you:
Do you find yourself distracted when trying to get things done?
Are you spending more than an hour scrolling social media per day?
Have you tried to stop a behavior like overeating, porn, email, or gambling with little or no success?
Are you waking up tired?
Is it difficult to get excited for anything besides that one behavior you know isn’t good for you?
If you’ve answered YES to any of these questions, it’s time to chat with a Coach.
